The Parisian fashion house Maison Martin Margiela are looking for second-hand pointe shoes. The fashion house are asking ballet/dance companies and schools to send on satin shoes that their dancers no longer use. This request is in regards to their artisanal line, which is made solely with existing garments. The work in this collection is based on, and created from second-hand material.

Maison Martin Margiela explains:
“For the coming season, we have developed a ballerina bag which is made from satin toe-shoes. For this bag we need worn female dancing shoes that the dancer no longer uses.”

“We count a lot on this bag since it’s a very strong product from an artistic point of view. Every bag is made out of 5 shoes, and therefore we are in great need of many dance schools and companies to collaborate with.

“If it is possible for you to collect the used shoes, do not worry about sending them. We will take care of transport costs and other expenses, and a thank you note will be included with the bag we ship to you.”

Maison Martin Margiela are calling on dance establishments to send on worn ballet shoes in order for the fashion house to re-use them. To find out how to send your shoes please contact:
