Sadler’s Wells autumn/winter season is now on sale. One of its highlights will be a new Sadler’s Wells production in collaboration with the internationally renowned fashion designer and artist Hussein Chalayan.

British Designer of the Year in 1999 and 2000, Chalayan is known for his innovative design, use of technology and elegant minimalism. His work has already been seen on Sadler’s Wells main stage – in his costumes for Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui’s Faun (part of In the Spirit of Diaghilev) and he has also worked with other dance artists, including Michael Clark (current/SEE) and Sasha Waltz and Guests (Passion). In his practice as a visual artist, his work is regularly shown in major galleries in Paris, Tokyo – and in London at the Design Museum. For his first fully theatrical work, Chalayan will be working with award-winning choreographer Damien Jalet. Gravity Fatigue takes its inspiration from themes of identity and displacement.

The autumn season also includes new work from Russell Maliphant, a season of work at venues across London from Hofesh Shechter, a UK premiere from Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, a Breakin’ Convention presentation – Sébastien Ramirez & Honji Wang, La Veronal and Claire Cunningham (as part of Dance Umbrella), another chance to see English National Ballet’s award winning Lest We Forget and in January 2016, a major new work by Akram Khan, in collaboration with the Roundhouse. At The Peacock, Zoonation will be back with a remixed version of their hit show Into the Hoods and there are also return visits from the Shaolin Monks and The Trocks – Les Ballets de Trockadero de Monte Carlo. A programme of innovative and experimental work in the Lilian Baylis Studio includes performances from Caroline Bowditch, new work from Jonathan Burrows and Matteo Fargion and Wild Card artist curated evenings from Botis Seva and Leila McMillan.
