News: British Dance Edition - in Wales this week

British Dance Edition 2016

Between Tuesday and Friday this week (15 – 18 March) over 750 artists, producers and presenters will descend on Cardiff and Newport to showcase and celebrate British Dance. In total 73 UK companies and independent artists will be presenting their work, taking part in the trade show and pitching ideas to presenters from across the UK, Europe, Canada, USA, Africa, Russia and Asia. Over 265 delegates are coming, nearly 100 of whom are from abroad.

If you’re not going to Wales, there’s an extensive programme of live streaming which gives the opportunity to see 16 live performance companies, interviews with artists and presenters and behind the scenes footage. Thursday is the main day for streaming, with events online all day from 10.55am to 11pm.

There will also be live streaming on the opening evening (Tuesday) from 7pm to 10.45pm and on Wednesday between 7.45pm and 11.45pm.

As well as the industry focused event, there are a number of public performances from a wide range of companies, including Gary Clarke Company, James Cousins Company, Aakash Odedra Company, Scottish Dance Theatre, Russell Maliphant Company, Phoenix Dance Theatre, National Dance Company Wales, Candoco Dance Company, Hofesh Shechter Company and Gecko.
