News: Alina Cojocaru - on the road with English National Ballet

Earlier this year Alina Cojocaru left the Royal Ballet to join English National Ballet – enjoying a transformation under the leadership of her friend Tamara Rojo. She’s been winning great reviews for her performance in the company’s Le Corsaire – and is now also dancing in their Nutcracker.
She tells the Observer’s Luke Jennings she’s enjoying touring – “There’s more intimacy in a smaller theatre. You’re closer to people. I’ve always been good at touring and I’m really looking forward to going to places where there’s less ballet than in London. You feel you matter” The move from the Royal Ballet has been a good one: “Now I’ve cut the ropes that were holding me, I can experiment, and I’m not afraid to fall.”
