Jonzi D – the b-boy from Bow, Founder/Artistic Director of Breakin’ Convention at Sadler’s Wells who recently turned down an MBE talks to The Stage.

“Hip hop is not that 50 Cent thing of ‘I’ve got money and I’m gonna shoot you, bitch; original hip hop values are education, empowerment, peace, love and unity. Real hip hop lives. And it still means something to people.”

Includes some of Jonzi’s best known works, including Guilty, Shoota, Safe, Classroom, The Fast Lane, Cracked Mirror and Aeroplane Man – performed by a wealth of hip hop dance talent including Banxy, Bboy Tuway and Kenrick ‘H2O’ Sandy and Michael ‘Mikey J’ Asante from Boy Blue Entertainment.

The Letter and Other Works
Thu 25 – Sat 27 October
A bill of new work including the world premiere of The Letter = which explores the responses towards Jonzi being offered an MBE in the New Years Honours List – his first solo theatre work in 17 years.
